The Nigerian Music industry is indeed blessed with very creative and daring female musicians who are taking the industry to the next level and setting clear signals to their male counterparts that women are ready to take over the industry!
With daring, heart stopping and stunning looks, coupled with vibrant delivery and stage presence, they have succeeded in gaining the attention of their fans, mostly men.
Indeed, these women set to capture our minds with beautiful renditions laced with sonorous voices; also make lasting impressions with their individual dress sense. As we present some of Nigeria’s female musicians in no particular order, we will like you to judge and tell us, whom you think is the most stylish female musician in Nigeria right now?
Goldie Harvey
Nigerian pop diva, Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey, presents the picture of a bold and sexually liberated woman. Due to a flair for Victorian Pieces; fishnets, gloves, hats, pearls, lace, satin, she is often referred to as the Nigerian Lady Gaga. For her red carpet looks, she goes over the top glam. You can’t just walk past and not notice her. Goldie can easily be described as the ‘queen of daring-sexy’.
Mo’Cheddah
Modupe Oreluwa Oyeyemi better known as Mo’Cheddah, is a promising hip-hop artiste with a unique voice that only few can rival. The franchise celebrity has been able to register herself as one of Nigeria’s hottest female acts. Not only has she grabbed people’s attention with her many hit tracks, her great fashion sense and style has endeared her to many. Mo’Cheddah is mostly clothed by designer Kunbi Oyelese of April…
Tiwa Savage
Although relatively new in the Nigerian music scene, her single ‘Kele kele love‘, has won the heart of many within a short time and marked her presence in the competitive market. Back in the US, she had backed up several A-list artistes such as Mary J Bilge, George Michael and Spice Girls to mention a few. Tiwa has a soft singing style, hot and sexy body and understands clearly the A to Z of looking fab!
Sasha
Yetunde Alabi, the First Lady of Storm Records is one unique rapper that has stood the test of time in the music industry and paved the way for many young female artistes to follow. Sasha always dresses to the nines on the red carpet and represents her clothing line ‘Eclectic by Sasha‘, most times.
Waje
Hot and sexy Waje Iruobe, is fast becoming a household name in the music industry. She first gained fame with her beautiful delivery on P-square hit song ‘Do me‘ and ever since then has stunned with her songs and a few cameos. Waje has now done away with her conservative dressing and innocent look to a more alluring, sexy image.
B.O.U.Q.U.I
Veteran gospel rapper, Bukola Afolayan, better known as B.O.U.Q.U.I, is one artiste with a unique dress sense. B.O.U.Q.U.I debuted with her brand: a unique hairstyle that leaves a lasting impression on our minds and sets her apart from any other artiste. She believes her style is unique to her and portrays who she is.
Omawumi
Blessed with a sonorous voice, the songbird has definitely given herself a trademark: Short baby doll dresses and hairstyle that is only synonymous with her. Omawumi loves being very comfortable, sexy and elegant. We’re waiting to see what her style will look like after the baby drops (wink).
Kel
Born Kelechi Ohia, the Soulmate ambassador, has her own way of expressing her feminine look. Her style is basically comfortable but it varies and depends on the occasion. Kel also loves the corporate casual look and is usually seen wearing fitted shirts, jeans and blazers.
Weird Mc
Shola Idowu, who was the first visible female rapper in Nigeria, has always opted for the tomboy look. She usually appears at shows sporting baggy jeans, long sleeve shirts and sneakers. When she wants to kick back and relax, she often rocks baggy three quarter pants and a T-Shirt. The rapper’s fashion sense is incomplete without mentioning her signature long damask cap, which gives an Afro centric twist to her urban ensemble.
Blaise
The talented rapper is laid back in terms of fashion but loves the hooded tops, T-shirts and very subtle make up.
Ty Bello
Ty Bello’s signature afro look and beautiful choice of patterns always set her apart on any red carpet.
