Hazel ‘Whitemoney‘ Oyeze Onou has been crowned winner of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) season 6.
Whitemoney was announced the winner at the BBNaija finale show on Sunday, October 3, 2021.
He emerged winner after polling 47% of total votes in the show’s final week to defeat five other finalists – Roseline ‘Liquorose’ Afije, Pere Egbi, Emmanuel Umoh, Angel Agnes Smith, and Ikechukwu ‘Cross’ Okonkwo.
The show’s finale aired live on DStv and GOtv across 40 African countries and in the United Kingdom via ShowMax, MultiChoice’s online video-on-demand platform.
Whitemoney cleared 47% of votes and was followed by Liquorose, who polled 22.9% percent of votes to become the first runner-up.
He was announced the winner by the show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, on Sunday night.
Season 6, full of twists and pranks, had 26 housemates, more than the 20 from the previous edition. The first twist in this season’s show was the double premiere where male and female housemates were unveiled on different days, then came the wild cards twist, followed by the introduction of four new housemates Kayvee, Michael, JMK and Queen, in the second week.
Amidst all the twists, pranks and surprises from Biggie, Whitemoney, a 29-year-old entrepreneur, impressed fans and the voting public with his grass to grace story and culinary skills from his first week in the house.
According to daily BBNaija analytics released by ID Africa, a Lagos-based Media, Technology and Marketing company, the last four days before the finale, he stood at number two on the list of Top 5 housemates leading online conversations.
Whitemoney is going home with this season’s ₦90m grand prize, including a ₦30 million cash prize, cash in an Abeg digital wallet from the headline sponsor Abeg, bitcoins courtesy of Patricia, a two-bedroom apartment courtesy of RevolutionPlus Property, a top of the range SUV from a Nigerian automaker, Innoson Motors and a trip for two packaged by Travelbeta.
The BBNaija winner who plans to take his designer shoes importation business to the next level after the show now joins the illustrious list of former BBNaija winners who have built a flourishing career in Nigeria’s creative industry.
In its six-season run, the BBNaija show has continued to draw a record audience across Africa as the biggest reality show on the continent.
The show’s guarantee of fame and wealth from brand endorsements has continued to inspire many young Nigerians to audition for reality shows.
The grand finale, which aired live on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 29, featured live performances by Nigerian superstars Ajebo Hustlers, Made Kuti, Lojay, Laycon and Avala.
