
The inhabitants of the waterfront environment were treated to a special screening of the award winning South African documentary, ‘Dear Mandela’.
Directed by Dara Kell and Christopher Nizza, Dear Mandela tells the story of slum dwellers in the Durban region of KwaZulu Natal who fought the government legally to keep their homes which has initially been labeled for demolition by the government. The 37 minutes documentary attracted scores of Makoko dwellers from the school kids to the adults whose main source of living is fishing thronged the Makoko Floating School where the screening held.
The movie screening which has also been held at the Bundu Waterside in Port Harcourt was facilitated by CMAP in conjunction with Amnesty International and Ford Foundation.
