Believe it or not, the remix of Wizkid’s ‘Ojuelegba’ featuring American rapper, Drake and UK-based rapper, Skepta has what can be called a ‘divine’ twist to it. Here is what we know about the remix of the song that has got Nigerians very excited…
* Wizkid didn’t contact Drake or Skepta for a collaboration of the song already praised as one of the biggest songs of his career.
* The song, off his second album, the last with EME titled Ayo, has an autobiographical feel to it unlike many of Wizkid’s songs. Its video was directed by Clarence Peters
*Skepta brought the attention of American rapper, Drake to ‘Ojuelegba’ after they met at this year’s edition of the popular Wireless Festival which held between Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5, 2015 in the UK.
* The American rapper, who features on Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Anaconda’ fell in love with the song instantly and decided to hop on it and the buzzing remix was born.
* Now, here’s the ‘miraculous’ part of the entire process as Nigerians are tagging it. Drake should not have been the headlining act for the Wireless Festival this year. He was actually the headlining act for the festival last year but just 2 days to the festival, he fell ill and couldn’t make it down. The organisers of the festival replaced him with Kanye West and Drake gave his word to be on hand for this year’s edition.
* If Drake didn’t fall ill last year, he wouldn’t have been in UK this year to meet Skepta who played the song to him which many experts were already pointing to as Wizkid’s best song ever.
