When animal expert, Coyote Peterson, decided to leave his arm at the mercy of a Costa Rican bullet ant, which is known to have the most painful bite in the world, little did he know that he had signed up for what might be his most horrific animal adventure yet.
Before now, he’d travelled all over the world, getting sting after sting from all sorts of dangerous insects – from harvester ants to the insect with the second deadliest sting, tarantula hawk.
However, this particular bite was far more than the adventurous Peterson had envisioned, as he screamed and writhed in pain the minute he felt the sharp sting of the killer insect.
Previous victims of the inch-long bullet ant’s sting have compared it to the intense pain of being shot, and that’s how the insect got its name.
