The Thailand edition of fashion publication Vogue has debuted this week, selling out within days.
Vogue Thailand is the 20th international edition of the glossy, and the very first Vogue in Southeast Asia.
According to a publicity assistant at Conde Nast International Ltd., the magazine’s publishers, Vogue is published in the US, Britain,France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Russia, Japan and China; as well as Taiwan, Mexico, Latin America, Korea, Brazil, Australia, Portugal, India, Turkey, The Netherlands and now in Thailand.
The first ever edition features a model wearing a ‘chada’, the traditional tall coronet.
‘For the Thai edition, we also want to present Thai women’s cheerful attitude and lifestyle. For the first issue we wanted a chada, which is internationally recognised and has a sophisticated design. We searched the archives of the master of the craft, Chakrabhan Posayakrit, and then asked Phillip Treacy, a world-renowned maker of headdresses, to create a chada we could display on our cover’, Vogue says.
‘I guarantee that the second, third and fourth issues will be even better’, he added.
*An earlier version of this article mentioned, in error, Vogue Thailand as the 21st international edition of the magazine, and did not list the countries where the magazine is currently being published. It also cited Kullawit Laosuksri as the magazine’s first male editor.
