‘Big Daddy’, the short film on rape has won two awards at the 2012 edition of the International Film Festival.
Directed by writer, filmmaker and teacher, Chris Ihidero, ‘Bid Daddy’ won awards for ‘Special Jury Award‘ and ‘Best Editing Award’ at the festival awards which was held in Lagos from held on October 11 – 13, 2012.
‘We decided to make a film on rape because we believe that, for our society to truly combat this abnormality, we need to lay our collective shame bare’, Ihidero explains.
‘We fear that unless we collectively do something quickly, anarchy may be loosed upon us all in the very near future’, he adds.
Big Daddy is a film against rape and sexual abuse, showing its social responsibility towards creating awareness and seeking solutions to the issue of rape in Nigeria. It features fast rising actors; Yemi Adeyemi, Zara Abimbola Udofia, ‘Tunbosun Auyedehin among a host of others.
Amaka Igwe serves as executive producer of the movie.
The film was premiered at the Silverbird cinemas on Sunday December 4, 2011 and premiered online today.
