After entertaining at the Star Trek concerts in Benin and Awka over the last two weeks, D’banj travelled to the UK for what turned out to be a massive performance at the BBC 1’s Hackney Weekend 2012.
The entertainer along with a live band, backed by younger brother Kay Switch and ‘bestie’ Ikechukwu on June 23, 2012 thrilled the audience with a performance that showed his stage craft and musical prowess.
‘One word 4 the @iamdbanj at Hackney : MAGIC! That performance left me 😮 I wanted to be on the stage too! OOSHEEYYY #Superstar‘, a fan @Dolly_Peezy tweeted.
‘D’Banj smashed it today #R1Hackney big up all Nigerians‘, popular BBC DJ Tim Westwood commented as he put up a photo of him and the entertainer.

Dbanj that we all know is an hustler, an energetic performer and nau Africa’s biggest super-start entertainer…once u are born great, u definitely are…he is nau selling his brand as Fela re-incarnated to the global audience…no one can stop that! I have never met this guy before, but he really awe me with his stage control. How many A-list shows have u seen Marvin crew who are all hustling for exposure..Music business is a strategic business which Dbanj seems to understand yet the likes of Dr. Sid who was promoted under Mohits with the sweats and money of Dbanj and Don Jazzy who took risks to relocate to Nigeria, dont seem to understand, yet he beefs Dbaj success. The end justify the mean. The music business of Naija is going global…not the best but the fittes survives it!

Ayo, I don’t see ur point. Somebody has to produce the songs and another person person has to perform them. That is the way it works…division of labour thingy. One more thing, if u care to know, production is not the job of the producer alone sometimes. The producer can be inspired sometimes by the artiste whose work is being produced. A lot goes into production from both sides. So, remember when ur praising Don Jazzy for good production, praise the artiste, in this case Dbanj for the inspiration. It is a two way traffic thingy. Inspiration is key!!

@Ayo you are shallow minded, really… So what if donjazzy produced the songs? Isn’t that his Job? To make beats? If Dbanj didn’t use to shout ‘It’s donjazzy again’ would you have known him? If dagrin didnt use to say ‘sarz on the beat’ would you have known sarz?
Incase you haven’t noticed, a lot of people, asin a lot make beats so if it’s about beats then don’t worry about that, I think you should watch the video and see if any, I repeat! any nigerian that can pull such crowd and have that great stage presence. I love donjazzy don’t get me wrong but there are a lot of bad ass silent producers out there! Simple.
Ps: when you produce a song for someone, the artiste is the owner by right, so d’banj performing songs produced by whoever don’t mean shit, it’s his songs!

See there is something you should know here, Dbanj is new on the foreign charts so he has to ‘rotate and recycle’ old songs so as to see how well they do, now if people like that then his new songs can start pushing out and as we know dbanj, once you like him you have to keep liking lol, it’s all business strategies, While DonJ on the other hand can release 1million albums oo because it’s Naija and he knows the market too well and once again cuz it donjazzy people will always go for it, so like I said just give him time.
