One of Nigeria’s most acclaimed photographers and singer Toyin Shokefun Bello has released her 3rd studio album.
The vocal powerhouse, who has been silent regarding her music career for a while now, decided to drop her new album without any promo or buzz.
The new 10-track album is titled The Morning Song Book, with tracks like ‘Yahweh’, ‘Thirsty’, ‘Jesu jesu’ and others, featuring collaborations with M Sugh and Fela Durotoye.
TY Bello, as she’s fondly called, dropped her debut album Greenland in 2008 while her sophomore album, The Future was released in 2012. The former KUSH member, who studied Economics at the University of Lagos, got married in 2009.
According to her Instagram post as regards the release of her new album, TY Bello wrote: ‘THE MORNING SONG BOOK (10.10.14) today’s date is really interesting .in so many ways ,it speaks of complete cycles.. Perfection. Double 7+7=14 .. Two complete cycles… Whole. In 2009 I begun this amazing season where I would write music to God as my morning devotion.It was a unique time of discovery and I felt it was a unique way to give of myself .. Open and sincere.. It wasn’t long that I realized that I was receiving way more than I was giving. Every beautiful exchange with God always leaves us with more. I was also humbled when I got this heartfelt assurance that he thought the songs were perfect. Perfect?? If you’ve ever written music you would know that ‘perfect ‘is the one that simply evades ….
