Stakeholders in the Nigerian movie industry, popularly referred to as Nollywood, now have more cause to smile as an innovative platform has been launched that will see Nigerian movies brought to North American audiences.
SnapFix, the company behind this initiative, will be launching the Nollywood Cinema Series USA, and will take off by premiering Blessing Egbe‘s much talked about ‘Two Brides and a Baby‘.
According to the initiators, ‘The Nollywood Cinema Series brings the new breed of high quality Nollywood movies to movie theatres in North America, allowing lovers of African movies to enjoy premieres and screenings of the latest movies‘.
‘We will be launching the series with a red carpet movie premiere of Blessing Egbe’s ‘TWO BRIDES AND A BABY’ on April 14, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia‘, the statement further reads.
SnapFlix founders, Deji Eniojukan and Jide Akanbi are of the opinion that ‘This is a great landmark for Nollywood and the beginning of a new revolution of film in African Entertainment Industry… It’s a big breakthrough and it’s been a long journey, but we are excited about the future of Nollywood and we’re glad to be part of it’.
Producer of the movie, ‘Two Brides and a Baby‘, Blessing Egbe, who expressed excitement over the development, commented thus, ‘I am excited that a new door has opened for Nollywood films in the US via Snapflix distribution. These are a new crop of distributors with good intent for content owners… I am happy for the innovation and look forward to the launch‘.
SnapFlix is a distributor of African and Caribbean media based in Atlanta, Georgia and is the media and entertainment subsidiary of Sinet Technologies Inc.
The movie centers on the story of Bankole (O.C Ukeje) and Keche (Chelsea Eze), and Kole’s ex-girlfriend (Stella Damasus) and all the attendant drama that ensues in between. The movie was produced by Blessing Egbe.
