Tonto Dikeh, Kate Henshaw, Desmond Elliot, others stand against rape today

Popular Nollywood stars including controversial actress, Tonto Dikeh and others like Ini Edo, Desmond Elliot, Kate Henshaw will participate in the 5th edition of the War Against Rape (WAR) walk scheduled for tomorrow,March 10, 2015 in Ikeja, Lagos.

This year’s edition of the annual initiative created by social and women-rights activist, Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye has already been endorsed by the Lagos State Ministry Of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Other notable celebrities who have been confirmed for the walk include Joseph Benjamin,  Owen Gee, Omobaba, Jimmy Jatt, Monalisa Chinda, Toke Makinwa, Mercy Aigbe, Iyabo Ojo, Kemi Lala Akindoju, Emma Nyra, Emmanuel Ikubese, BEAT FM’s Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Bolaji Rosiji, Ego Obaro, Praise Fowowe, Jerrilyn Mulbah, Jodie, and Toni Payne.

Designed to give a voice to sexually abused persons – especially women and children, the Walk Against Rape initiative is also committed totally to eradicating the scourge of rape in Nigeria where the number of cases is reportedly on an alarming rise.

The special demonstration brings together youth advocates, guardians, entertainers and showbiz personalities, media practitioners, sports personalities, parents, teachers, and student delegates from different Secondary and Tertiary institutions around Lagos State annually as they show support to the cause.

‘The workshop kicked off on the 18th of February 2015 with Desmond Elliot, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State; Ade Ipaye and a host of other stakeholders in attendance,’ the convener said.
