What do Glastonbury (UK), Copenhagen (Denmark) and Boom (Belgium) have in common? Those three cities are reputed to be three of the biggest party cities in the world.
In fact, this site here calls them ‘mega parties’. But let’s look at the numbers: Glastonbury, the biggest among those three had a record attendance of 135,000 in 2016.
Compare that with the ongoing, eight-day long One Lagos Fiesta and you’ll agree that there isn’t any reason why Lagos is not ranked as one of the biggest party capitals in the world.

Since Christmas Eve, it’s been a continuous rave – one that would not end until the first day of the new year.
What’s more, it’s taking place simultaneously in five areas of Lagos: Agege, Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu and Victoria Island.
With only one day before the grand finale, the One Lagos Fiesta has seen hundreds of thousands of Lagosians join in at the concerts.
Nigeria’s biggest musicians ranging from Salawa Abeni, Shina Peters, Adewale Ayuba to younger icons Olamide, Phyno, M.I Abaga, Reminisce have all taken time out to make the Fiesta all the more exciting.
Add that to the Lagos Got Talent hunt to discover fresh artistes, then it makes it all the more unique.

Lagos government’s plan to include all citizens and residents in a week-long party obviously is working. The free concerts have seen people troop out and send the year off on a jolly note.
The popular saying which Banky W sang about, ‘ain’t no party like a Lagos party’, has not been truer in this case. The One Lagos Fiesta has not interrupted regular day-to-day life – traffic has not been disrupted, no fights have broken out, and there has not been any medical emergencies.
Unlike anywhere else in the world that a party of this duration and magnitude holds, the metropolis of Lagos has carried on without impeding the flow of a 21st century city.
If the folks at Guinness World Records do not know, let us tell them: One Lagos Fiesta is bigger than your favourite party. It’s about time they gave the city of excellence its due recognition.
