The adaptation of ‘The hunger games’ a novel written by American television writer Suzanne Collins and published in 2008, has topped the box office for the fourth consecutive week.
‘The Hunger Games’ fended off competition from films like ‘The Three Stooges’ and ‘Cabin in the Wood’, making an estimated $21.5 million in North American theatres. So far, the movie has made about $337.1 million domestically and earned more than $500 million worldwide.
In 2009, ‘Avatar’ secured the top spot for seven consecutive weeks, making history as the runner up to ‘Titanic’, which was on the top of box office charts for 15 consecutive weeks.
