Nigerian singer and producer Gabriel Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has allegedly been involved in a brawl with hotel staff in the Iju area of Lagos.
The singer and his crew reportedly got into a fight on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at popular hangout The Treasures Exclusive Garden in Iju.
The fight, according to reports, broke out when one of Terry G’s boys jumped into the bar’s swimming pool without paying.
‘One of the hangout’s attendants told the boy to come out of the pool but he refused. When he was dragged out, his colleagues reportedly reacted with violence. The ensuing fight saw Terry G raining blows on the hotel manager. His boys started beating the security guards, while Terry G himself slapped the hotel manager who was trying to calm him down,’ PM News sources told the evening newspaper.
When NET visited the hotel, a staff of the hotel who pleaded anonymity confirmed that the incident happened and that the singer was around when it happened. ‘I was not around when it happened, and from what I heard, the fight happened, but I can’t tell you if Terry G slapped the manager or not,’ the security man told NET.

When NET contacted Terry G, his Personal Assistant, Uche denied the allegations. While confirming that there was a fight, Uche told NET that Terry was never a part of it.
‘Terry G never slapped or punched anyone. There was a little fight, but he didn’t hit anybody. He tried settling the issue and hurriedly left the place to avoid negative reports yet that didn’t stop the press from reporting something else,’ Uche told NET.
Uche also denied reports that the singer has been invited by the Police.
Several attempts to speak to the owner of the hangout, Obot, were futile as he didn’t respond to the numerous calls and text messages to his phone.
Terry G has also released a statement refuting reports of him being involved in the fight.
‘Right now, I am not happy at the reports circulating on social media. Yes I do crazy hit songs, yes I say I’m crazy, yes I act crazy in my videos , I do all that for the money. In my saying, it’s better to be a mad man making money than a handsome nuisance. Why on earth at this point of my career will I be involved in such? I am not writing to convince anyone. Is it wrong for me to settle a misunderstanding between two parties without waking up in the morning to see such head-lies and (not headlines)? Will I at this point swim at a public hotel without paying?’ part of the singer’s statement read.
