Tems, Omah Lay, Bolanle Olukanni and Efa Iwara are some of the Nigerian acts making their debut on the fifth edition of NET Honours, one of the world’s most prestigious audience data-based awards. These acts made significant progress in their careers and garnered the public’s attention within the year in review.

Amid the pandemic, Tems released her much-awaited EP titled For Broken Ears to much love from the listening public and praises from critics. Her collaboration with Wizkid on ‘Essence’, off the singer’s ‘Made In Lagos’ album, also earned her global fame, with many commending her sultry vocals on the track. Her single, Damages, off the EP, has surpassed 6 million streams on Spotify as of date. In addition, the song earned her a nomination for Most Played Song – Alternative.
Omah Lay encountered stardom in the Covid-ridden year of 2020, following the success of his 5-track EP, ‘Get Layd’. His follow-up EP, ‘What Have We Done’, was just as successful. His song, Godly, led several music charts for weeks after its release and was the number 1 song on Apple Music’s Top 100 Nigerian songs. He is nominated for the Most Played Song – Pop award for his hit track ‘Godly’.
Efa Iwara had one of his best years as an actor in 2020. He had movies showing on the web, on TV and in the cinemas. For months, he trended as two of the characters he played on completely different web series. Efa also had three movies in which he played major roles in the cinemas. He appeared in ‘Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story’, ‘This Lady Called Life’, and ‘Finding Hubby’. He earned his first NET Honours nomination for ‘Most Popular Actor’ this year.

Bolanle Olukanni is a seasoned TV host and producer popularly known for hosting Moments with Mo and Project Fame West Africa. In 2017 she wrote, directed and produced her first documentary titled “Gods Wives”, which received a nomination for Best Documentary at the AMVCA. She is currently the host of Ndani TV’s show ‘The Juice’. Bolanle also became the first woman to host the prestigious NECLive 8 event earlier this year. She is nominated for the Most Popular Media Personality – Female award.
