In an interview with Variety Studio, Taraji P. Henson said that she auditioned for the role of Olivia Pope in Scandal. According to Taraji, when she first saw the script she immediately thought ‘this is Kerry Washington.’
She did the interview with Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, where they both talked about their last auditions. While her last audition was for Scandal, Ryan’s was for a Coen Brothers film. In his words it was terrible because ‘they were just quietly shaking their heads.’
However, Taraji said she was grateful Kerry Washington got the Olivia Pope role, and so are we.
