Huddah Monroe, often referred to as ‘Kenya’s number one socialite’ took to her twitter account on Monday, July 29, 2013 to confront those who call her by that name.
A socialite is a socially prominent person or one who enjoys social activities. But in Kenya, it has a negative connotation: ‘a whore’.
The Big Brother Africa ‘The Chase’ contestant says she loathes the title, expressing herself in a series of tweets that got many talking.
‘I LOATHE the name ‘Socialite’, I gotta live by Media names for now. But in good time, u will know what name I prefer and I’ll live by it!’
In another tweet, she wrote: ‘In Kenya the meaning of a “Socialite” is a glorified whore.I don’t remember getting paid by any of u guys. And naked pics don’t make u one!’
‘Young girls asking how they can be socialites is really depressing…please don’t shoot sex tapes or take naked pictures my babies.’
