2016 has claimed another good one.
Carrie Fisher, more popularly known for acting in the Star Wars movie franchise, has died at the age of 60.
On Friday, she suffered a cardiac arrest while travelling from London to Los Angeles and was rushed to a hospital. She suffered a heart attack in the hospital and later died.
Her death was announced in a statement released on behalf of her daughter.
‘It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.’
She played her first role in Star Wars franchise in 1977 and even had an on-set affair with co-star Harrison Ford, aged only 19.
She also acted in the second and third Star Wars films – and last year’s The Force Awakens.
She is survived by her mom Debbie Reynolds, daughter Lourd and beloved French bulldog, Gary.
