Star Trek Storm Abuja, Asaba, Auchi and Nnewi
As reported last month, the annual Star Trek musical concert kicked off on Friday, May 27, 2010 and as previous editions held was awesome in every nature.
The star trek crew hit the Gwagwalada town, Abuja to begin the musical tour and boy were they welcomed by the crowd who were impressed with the lineup of artistes who came to perform.
Abuja fans trooped into the Brifina Hotel to watch performances by their favourite acts; Naeto C, Timaya, Jaywon, Essence, Goldie, Femi Adeyinka and Star Quest past winners Jukebox as they performed their hit songs.
Next stop was Auchi, Edo State where show host Jafe Extra cracked the crowed up with naughty jokes while he called out performers to show their ‘stuff’ to the cheerful crowd. It was the newly crowned Star Quest winners BEAT Band and past winners Diamondz that made it worth the come-out.
Next stop was Asaba, Delta State where show host Gbenga Adeyinka was on stage to moderate the show as he called out the acts to deliver their songs. From Banky W, Faze, Wande Coal to BEAT Band and Diamondz band, the performances were bright and colourful. Highlife act MC Loph and singer Flavour whose music are most popularly known in Asaba also received cheers from the home crowd.
The train moved on to Nnewi, Anambra State where the acts most notably star rapper Jude Abaga, better known as M.I tore the stage with performances from his MI2 album.
The next stop was the Blue Island Hotel, Enugu. As usual, the BEAT Band, winners of Star Quest 2011 opened the Enugu leg of the musical show with a medley of their original compositions.
Choc City act Jesse Jagz got on staged and wowed the crowd with songs from his ‘Jagz of all Trades’ album. This was followed by Ruggedman and latest signee Chinedu.
But it was when the pop duo P Square came on stage that the Enugu fans went ‘bonkers’ as duo performed their smash hit ‘E no easy’ and ‘Roll it’. As if that wasn’t enough, M.I and South-South favourite Flavour came on stage and after thrilling the crowd with solo performances, performed the hit collabo tune ‘Number 1’ as the fans recited the chorus word after word.
Other musical stars that thrilled the crowds at the Old Township Stadium venue of the Owerri edition were Wande Coal, 2 Shotz, Ella B and past Star Quest winners Juke Box.
