Star rewards consumers with recharge cards as league heats up

Determined to ensure that consumers do not expend resources as they participate in the ongoing Star League ‘Text and Play’ challenge, leading beer brand, Star Lager beer, from the stables of Nigeria Breweries plc has started a reward programme where participants would receive N500 recharge cards each to appreciate them for playing in the league. This cuts across the major networks in the country. Over 7, 000 participants have had their lines credited and a total of 28,000 will be credited through this process of rewards that Star promises will continue till the end of the promo.

As it heats up, Lagos is maintaining its lead on the league table, with other states recording increasing participation.’ Star League – ‘Text n Play’ is an exciting avenue for consumers to display their creativity as they enjoy their favorite Star lager beer. The pan Nigeria challenge has been garnering accolades and excitement from consumers, who in the process have opportunity of winning fantastic prizes.

Billed to run from April 2nd to May 31st, 2013, the Star League-Text n Play is generating huge interest and following as evidenced by the large number of participants on the league table. To participate, consumers are expected to look under the crown cork of their Star beer bottle for a unique code and SMS the code under with their full name, age and state of residence to a short code 30383. The consumer will instantly receive a feedback message stating the number of points the consumer has earned. The SMS system works with all major telecoms operators in the country.

The mobile phone number used to send the code is used to register the consumer on the Star website. To make the challenge transparent, consumers have the unique opportunity to check their ‘standing’ on the ‘Star League Table’ at (www.star-nigeria.com) where they will see their position on the State League compared to other consumers. Points will be accumulated over the period of the promo using the registered mobile number.

At the end of the offer Period, participants with the highest points from each ‘State League’ will be rewarded as follows: For each of the 36 States and Abuja: Top 15 winners get iPads with customized sleeves; Next 550 winners get Premium head phones while Next 1000 winners get Exclusive Star DVDs.
