Hey guys, do you remember the embarrassing story on my counterfeit phone experience I talked about earlier?
I went through your comments and never could have imagined that so many people have also had their experience with counterfeit phones. So many interesting stories have been sent in narrating different experiences. I am still recovering from the laughter after reading some.
But, if you haven’t shared you story, there is still an opportunity for you to do so and win for yourself, a Nokia smart phone.
You have just two more weeks to go to be a proud winner of a Nokia smart phone.
Cheers!

how do i get to post my story.?
The embarassment my counteifeit nokia 1100 has given me was d day i went for a party at shagamu ogun state, luckly for me i met a girl i toasted her and she accepted for me,she now said i should bring out my phone so that she could give me her phone number and i have forgotten dat my phone is not working perfectly because the number 3,6,and 9 are nut working but i forgot,i gave her my phone so i collect her phone she is using nokia x2, along the way she now called my attention dat she is typing it but its not working i was so ashamed of myself, so i had to find a pen so dat she could write it in a paper, its an unforgetable day for me.
I beg pas d stuff go my email pls.
On my own experience with conterfeit phone:It is last year November to be precised,i saw this advert of Nokia X2-02 and i got interested in having a type of this, and fortunately enough for me we just resume a new session;and you what it means for students to resume..money is there to procure anything they want.
The weekend of our resumption,i and my friend went to town for shopping at Ahmadu Bello Way;the central business unit of JOS,our initial plan was to get clothes at a buotique there, inside the shop i remembered my dream phone, that was how we rush out abadoning the clothes heading straight to a place called Hymanns, that was my first time being there, getting to hymaans we were welcome by different models of phones,i saw my X2-02 with anxiety gushing out of andrenaline i couldnt bargin less checking or testing it,i paid 22,000 naira for it and rushed back to my hostel, back in my room we are four living together, the other three are using different series of nokia, this further made me to go for this phone.when i entered the room and i met all present including my friend’s girl friend,i was happy to announce to them i’ve got my phone too,in anticipation i brought it out,;all agreed itwas tight and cool but the lady in the room pressed the button while passed on to her…to my greatest shock, all she said was MUGU,MUMU ‘dem don pack garri give you’,sillence and surprise filled the room,i collected the phone to check, come see how gari dey pour like rain’….All of them started laughing, calling me ‘mr eba’.
My counterfeit Phone Story goes like this………
I bought one of these counterfeit phones (AKA CHINA PHONE) with NOKIA boldly written on it, two days after, i was charging it in my friends house only for someone to rushed and call me that smoke is coming out from my phone!! The phone panel got burnt beyond repair simply because i was charging it with a generator. What an embarrassment!!!!
i used to be a proud owner of a chinese fone but which looks so much like a bb curve but honestly i never bought it to feel among or to make it look like the actual one but i actually bought it because that is what i could afford at that point in time and the coolest thing about the fone is that it has gotten this cool interface which includes a ball just above the key that if you are not so conversant with the real bb you might actually take it to be the real deal except for the fact that it has gotten the sim2 dial button which fortunately for me was not so obvious and base on the fact that it makes a lot of noise which i understand right before i bought it i had to put the volume as low as possible which then makes it sound exactly like a real nokia at its highest volume and one important thing many users are failing to put in practice about a chinese phone which i learnt from a cousin is the choice of your ringing tone for instance when you have a terry g song (probably sangalow) as a ringing tone then there is a problem because the treble level of the song is so loud that it might makes a nokia e5 sound more or like a techno so i had to settle for GINO featuring sauce kid’s “farabale” which starts with a kick which then makes my chinese phone looks more cool when it rings so people dont get to know if it is chinese or not except for some closed friends! so many embarassin moments but am gon share dis cos it happened not quite long ago in the church….. the pastor had said some thing about an anonymous phone call nd sms better knw s killer number(atleast dat is wat he thinks) so he had ask each and every one of us to raise our phone as he ditchs out prayer points….i did as i was told not knowing that some church members instead of prayin were busying payin attention to the device the next person is raisin up…….after the service i had made my way towrds the exit….as i was headin out..ryt in my front is dis two sisters who use to be my cousin’s friends with another friend…..we exchange pleasantries nd the eldest was like ” ay, i knw yu must av gotten ur self a bb too…i trust yu…saw it durin the service”…i managed a smile…..den she reach into her bag nd bring out wat luk like a bold 2 nd she utter dos words that sound as if i ve juss bin tested positive “”nd nau that we knw yu re also in the bb tin…lemme av ur pin”…..lo ba tan!
D fone i’m usin presently mks me fil abashed,d digits r fadin,u cant use my fone in d dark cos d light 2 make u c n knw d functions of d digit has stopd working.i gotto hold on to d battery cover so as not to fall.d battery sef is fatter dan D normal batt meant 4 d fone.d speakers r faulthy….infact i do kip it on vibration wheneva im gon visit my fwends cos they all use blackberry.i even av 2 kip it insyd my pocket,so wen it vibrates,i wuld jst walk out. oluwatobi
Well, talking about Counterfeit i can remember back then when my phone case get loosed,i needed to use robber band in making the battery and case stick along cos there is no place to get a Case…
Remember OLD Nokia 3410? One Big Nokia like that, but seriously its a Strong phone…
Nokia makes lot of sense till date…
I was using a nokia e5, which happens 2 b the cheapest of nokia’s smartphone line:priced 35k. But one night i realized that ds ‘smart’ phones aint smart enuff for a rugged country like naija! We were comin back frm d club wen some armed guys swerved their car in front of ours…quickly we jumped out of our cab and I headed for the bush! The robbers searched the bush but were abt givin up when my so called ‘smart’ phone began 2 ring vry loudly:as i had set it 2 d highest volume cus we were in the club! Till today I still nurse my bruises gotten from the serious lynchin my loud ‘smart’ phone put me into. If it were smart it would have rejected dt useless call and let me be! I don’t miss dt phone bt would love 2 have my hands on any gud piece of technology in phone casing!

Mine was when Nokia N70 came out newly. I was so much freaking out because of this phone. You know the way students get money from their parents. I managed to get mine and it was 52k. I quickly rushed down to Ikeja to buy the phone. When I priced the phone the seller told me that he is going to give it out at 48k last price. I was still bargaining when my eyes met with a boy opposite the shop, who asked me to come take his at 9k. I was so astonished with the price and how much i’ll be having in my pocket as extra change… Dude… I got so tripping for the phone. When i checked it, the phone was very sound and neat. I hurriedly counted out 9k and gave to him. He took the phone from me so that he can take is SIM Card from the phone.
After the transactions, he handed me the phone and asked me to do everything on code so that the police people by the corner wouldn’t notice that he is selling a phone because he’s not with the receipt at that pointing time. I quickly slipped my phone into my pocket in order to avoid him from changing his mind. We got to the bus park where i boarded a bus home. When i got to a place i was sure the police men were not looking, i brought out my phone happily to see it once more. I quickly pressed the ON button, the button shifted inside… I tried it again, it went in deeper, again and again and it kept pushing inside the more. It was then that my mind asked me to open it up and see. Lo and behold the phone was loaded with Fufu… Mmh. My mind sank into my stomach. Oh My 9k!
This happened sometime in 2009 when i went to buy a Nokia N82 8Gb from Computer Village in Ikeja.I went into one of the Trusted Outlets(Name Withheld) to check for the current price but it was outrageous so i decided to patronize the Roadside Guys(Showglass Boys) and i got a very good price. So i decided to buy from him,he brought the phone out tested it and i was so happy that i got my choice phone at a good bargain.
So i set out and when i got home i decided to charge my phone for the stipulated time given only to open the phone box and discover that i was sold a “DUMMY”…You know those things they put outside to call customers. i immediately went back there but i could not find my seller and everyone there denied knowing anybody that sells phones there. Sad Story i tell you…..
you jst remind me of my samsung SCH-u350 phone i used sometimes. I like playing wif flip of my fone cos i enjoy d soundz whn u open it. Few weeks when i bought it i observd d screen used 2 b blank. So i cant read my sms n even c my callers. So i went 2 uncle Lukmann d fone repairer nxt 2 my street. He said its a flex problem. Bt dats a simple thing 2 handle according 2 him. Bt i have 2 sign an agreement dat i will nt react in case it doesnt work again. I quickly agreed nt nowing d implication of d aggrement. He told me 2 check bck in nxt 2 hours 2 retriev it. I was very anxious dat d time shud b fast forwarded. Amazingly & 2 my greates disapointment d phone is cud nt be switchd on again cos oga lukmann has done more damages and compounded d problem. I threatend 2 arrest him bt alas he quickly reminded me of d agreement we made b4 damblin into d repair. 2 worsen my case he showed me abt 12 other fones wif similar complain and d aftermath after repair. I regret takin it 2 Lukmann cos i cud reciev calls b4 bt nw d repair has done nothin bt more damages.
My experience goes thus.i have bin trying 2 replace my nokia 2960 phone 4 a while now bc d screen is bad and i used rubber 2 cupple it 2gether.we were in church one service n i 4got 2 put my phone on silent.During d sermon,d hopeless phone started ringing n i was at d front role.i tried puting my hand in my bag 2 silent it 2 no avail. At last,i had no choice dan 2 bring it out publicly 2 put off by removing d battery.Dis action disrupted d service 4 some minutes.I felt so ashamed of myself dat i could hardly walk out of church.I had 2 abandon d fone 4 some days.each time i remember,i wish it was at least a gud phone.
MY EXPERIENCE IS SUCH A SAD EPISODE.MY FIANCE GOT ME THIS WONDERFUL SAMSUND PEAR PHONE AND I CANT WAIT TO FLAUNT TO EVERYONE AT MY PLACE OF SERVICE, ON MY WAY BACK, WE WHERE ATTACK BY MEN OF THE UNDERWORLD, WAS RUBBED AND I LOST IT TO THEM. THAT SAME MONTH I GOT A NOKIA C3 ONLY TO REALIZE IT WAS NOT A SYMBIAN PHONE AND I SOLD IT. ANGERED AT MY PHONE LOVE ATTITUDE,MY HUSBAND RESTRICTTED FROM BUYING ANY PHONE SO I HAD TO MAKE DO WITH A CHINA PHONE. 7MONTHS LATER, MY HUBBY SUPPRISED ME WITH A NOKIA E5 FOR MY BIRTHDAY AND GUESS WHAT? I ONLY MADE USE OF IT FOR JUST 3DAYS AND I LOST IT AGAIN TO ONLY GOD KNOWS WHO. NOW AM BACK TO MY CHINA PHONE ONLY THAT IT IS HALF BLINDED. SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!
I must be honest. This is not my story, but it happened to someone i know of. This was not formulated. Its real. There is a popular place in mushin called odo or ladipo. It is more like a place where you get phones at very very cheap price. Imagine getting blackberry for as low as ten thousand naira. This friend of mine went there to buy a phone. He went with five thousand naira. After pricing and all, he bought a sagem phone, which was tested in his presence and it worked. He then mounted a bike home. On getting home, he tried to switch on his mobile, but it refused to switch on. He then decided to open and check the battery. To his greatest suprise he discovered that it was ‘eba’ that he bought and not a phone. It was just a case with ‘eba’ in it. The screen was definately just mere paper. And thats it. Getting the guy he bought it from would not be easy. If you doubt this story, ask those who know of odo/ladipo. They will tell you the wonders that happens there.
