On March 3, 2014. At the 2014 Academy Awards, host Ellen DeGeneres took a star-studded selfie, then tweeted it to the world. The picture would go on to become the most popular tweet in the history of the micro-blogging social networking site called Twitter.
With an overwhelming retweets of 3,389,274 and favourited by 2,023,328 users (and still counting), that particular tweet bags the record of the most read, most retweeted and most favourited tweet in Twitter history. The picture featured a few of her closest friends (Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie. Jennifer Lawrence).
Entering the Twitter ‘Hall of Fame’ by knocking out President Barrack Obama‘s 2012 victory tweet – ‘Four more years.’, posted in the early hours of November 7, 2012, when he was pronounced the winner of the American presidential election. Obama’s tweet was retweeted 765,619 times and favourited by 291,518 people.
