The much talked about MTV Live kicked off in grand style on Friday, April 6, 2011 at Tribeca nightclub in Victoria Island, Lagos and was a spectacular show attended by top celebrities, industry personalities and fans.
As earlier announced, the show featured hit maker 2face Idibia, JMartins and Congolese charmer Fally Ipupa all backed by individual live bands. The three popular singers went on to engage the crowd with live performances, which also included the collaborative effort ‘Jukpa’ from Fally Ipupa and J Martins. On the wheels on steel were veteran DJ Jimmy JATT and DJ Humility.
‘The first edition of MTV Live is themed around Choose or Lose, MTV’s voter mobilization campaign, and is designed to inspire and empower young Nigerians to exercise their right to vote ahead of the on-going April elections.’, MTV’s only Nigerian VJ, C-Von explains.
The show was closed by 2face with a stellar performance that left the crowed in awe as usual. Among the many famous faces in attendance were Ikechukwu, Don Jazzy, Wande Coal, Mo’ Cheddah, Goldie and Jaywon. Other guests were Dr. Frabz, Wale Tinubu, Olisa Adibua, Baba Dee, Waje, K Switch, Bolanle Okhiria, Ilami Akio and Kenny St. Brown.
