MultiChoice Nigeria, on Sunday, May 15, 2022, opened registration for the seventh season of Africa’s biggest reality TV show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija).
Announcing the registration which opened on Sunday, May 15, 2022, and John Ugbe, the CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria, who made the announcement, said registration for the reality show which propels many young Nigerians to stardom, will close Monday, May 30, 2022.
“We are set to make history once again with the seventh season of a show that is widely regarded as Africa’s biggest entertainment showcase and a major socio-economic driver in Nigeria. This season promises to top previous seasons in terms of production values, entertainment content and economic impact,” Ugbe said.
The show, which is a franchise of Big Brother, debuted in Nigeria in 2006 as Big Brother Nigeria but made a comeback 11 years later in 2017 as Big Brother Naija.
When the show returned in 2017, Michael Efe Ejeba won the show with a price tag of ₦25 million. The price tag got better as the show advanced to its fourth season, with Mercy Eke winning #60 million.
Olamilekan ‘Laycon’ Agbeleshe which the show helped brought his musical talent to the spotlight won the fifth season, going home with #85 million with several endorsements and sponsorship.
The last season, BBNiaja 6 ended on October 3, 2021, and
Fans’ favourite Hazel Oyeze ‘Whitemoney’ Onou emerged season 6 winner in 2021 and took home the ₦90 million price tag.
