Rap Genius has announced a licensing agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group.
The popular lyrics site back in November, signed a similar publishing deal with Sony/ATV. The deals come shortly after the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA) demanded the site shutdown due to their use of copyrighted lyrics without a license.
‘We love UMPG! They have a truly incredible stable of writers – we will lend them a wheelbarrow for the Grammys they are about to win! Rap Genius lets UMPG’s writers connect with their most obsessed fans, and we couldn’t be more excited about solidifying this partnership’, founder Ilan Zechory says.
