
With 5 albums, 20 Grammys and almost 120 million records sold worldwide, Beyonce has graciously attained a level which has put her ahead for various reasons. In 2014, Beyonce was named the highest paid black celebrity following the success of her Mrs Carter tour which is estimated to have earned her over $200m.
Until recently, Beyonce was the most followed celebrity on Instagram with over 42million followers although she has now been overtaken by Kim Kadashian who has 45m followers. Beyonce’s announcement at the 2011 MTV VMA that she was expecting a baby with Jay Z made a grand entrance into the Guinness Book of World Record as a total average of 8,868 tweets were posted every second on the news. Beyonce also recently became the first black singer to make the cover of Vogue magazine’s September issue making her the third black woman to be so honoured after Halle Berry and Naomi Campbell before her.
Despite taking a short break between 2011 and 2012 to deliver her baby, Ivy Blue, Beyonce returned stronger shocking the world with a self-titled surprise album in December 2013 selling 68,000 digital copies in 48 hours. The album which features her hubby, Jaz Z and Nigerian author, Chimamanda Adichie went on to sell 5 million copies globally.
No doubt Beyonce has attained a majestic position in the world of entertainment and she deserves all the accolades which have been coming her way as she turned 34, happy birthday Queen Bey.
