According to Barca’s website, Puyol underwent a surgery (an arthroscopy) last week to clean up his right knee.
No specific date has been given for Puyol’s return but it is believed that he will fully recover in a month’s time. With a month in the sidelines Puyol will miss his side’s Champions League semi-final matches and Spain’s World Cup qualifier this month.
Meanwhile Barcelona’s coach Tito Vilanova is expected to return to the Catalan club on March 25. Tito Vilanova has been in New York since January for treatment after his suffering a cancer relapse last year. Jordi Roura has been in charge of the club in his absence.
