Progress Chukwuyem has won the 7th edition of the Nigerian Idol after weeks of competition. Host, IK Osakioduwa, announced at the finale on Sunday, May 22, 2022.

The 21-year-old singer won the competition after polling a larger percentage of the 45 million total fans votes to defeat fellow finalist, Zadok, in a record-breaking voting season.
The duo had gone head-to-head the week before where they sang three songs each to the pleasure of the audience.
Getting to the final was not an easy feat as they had to join thousands of applicants to jostle for a place on the show. In all, 75 golden tickets were given. After another round of screening, 50 contestants qualified for the theatre week where they were paired with other contestants. Another round of screening took place before 12 contestants made it to the live performance stage.
Judges Obi Asika, D’banj and Simi during the recap session of his performances described his sound as pure and powerful.
Since the beginning of the live performances, both Zadok and Progress continued to give their best and raise their games making their presence in the final well deserved.
The Delta State-born singer grew into the show as noted by Obi Asika, one of the judges who said true to his name, Progress improved each time he appeared on stage.
Progress expressed delight in emerging the idol for season 7.
