David Olatokunbo Alaba is a Nigeria-born Austrian footballer who plays for German club, Bayern Munich and the Austria national football team.
The 23-year-old holds the record of the youngest player to play for the Austrian national team, making his debut in 2009 as a 17-year-old. He has gone on to play in a number of positions including central midfield, right and left wing but has since blossomed more as a left-back.
The Champions League title holder was born in Vienna to Gina and George Alaba and has one younger sister. His mother emigrated from the Philippines to work as a nurse in Austria while his father, a popular DJ and rapper in Austria, is a prince from Ogere, Ogun State in Nigeria.
Alaba, one of the best young talents in Europe at the moment, is managed by his father. More photos below…

But he is not a “Nigerian-born Austrian footballer.” He is an Vienna-born, Austrian footballer of Nigerian ancestry or parentage. There’s a difference.
