Photos From Joke Silva’s 50th Birthday Gig

On Thursday, September 29, 2011, friends, family and well-wishers converged at the Freedom Park, Broad Street, Lagos to celebrate the golden jubilee of screen goddess, Joke Silva. The occasion was also an opportunity for the celebrant to renew wedding vows with husband Olu Jacobs, after a successful 26 years of marriage.

The event was declared open with prayers offered by Pastor Ronke Akinola at about 5:42 pm. Compere for the evening was the delectable actress, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal.  Delegated ministers led by Pastor Tony Rapu of This Present House conducted the ‘Renewal of Vows’ between the couple.

Joke was dressed in a white Boubou dress while Olu looked smart in a cream shirt and pants.

Attending dignitaries included the First Lady of Ekiti state, Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, who chaired the fund-raiser for the couple’s Lufodo Academy for Performing Arts in the two-part event.

Guests were treated to a stage play titled ‘The Naming Ceremony’, courtesy of students of the Academy. The play was directed by Tosin Otudeko.  Soon the atmosphere was lightened with food and music as prolific entertainer Yinka Davies dished number after number backed by her band. Idols 2007 winner, Timi Dakolo was guest singer and he performed Westlife’s ‘Flying without Wings’.

Notable celebrities in attendance included Rita Dominic, Adesuwa Onyenokwe,  Ebuka Obi Uchendu of the Big Brother Nigeria fame, Uche Macaulay and movie producer Kunle Afolayan. Friends and family members of the couple showered encomium on Joke whom they unanimously described as a great, loving and wonderful lady.
