A Nigerian music icon by all standards, the late Christy Essien-Ibgokwe was not only famous for her music but also her graceful character. One of the pioneers that spearheaded the creation of Akwa Ibom State, the award-wining singer left us too soon at the age of 51.
Who remembers her famous limousine? The car which was presented to her in the US after a wining a major international award for her smash hit ‘Seun re re‘. Well, Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) paid a visit to her residence – a storey building situated at 43, Talabi Street off Adeniyi Jones Avenue, ABC B/Stop, Ikeja on Wednesday, July 6, 2011.
The building’s front porch accommodates the famous 80s Cadillac which looks out of use. The car bears a customized license plate number; ‘Lady of Songs LA 9 RA‘.
