American R&B singer, John Legend and Common did not just win an Oscar award for ‘Glory’ from the film, Selma, they delivered such a superb performance that was too gripping and overwhelming for many at the classy event.
The two performed in front of a backdrop of Alabama’s Edmund Pettus Bridge, where hundreds walked across in 1965 for the right to vote, the same bridge depicted in the Oscar-nominated film, Selma.
The stars were joined by a choir in performing the song which brought the audience to their feet and tears to the eyes of Selma lead actor, David Oyelowo who portrayed Martin Luther King, Jr. in the film, alongside Chris Pine who was also soaked in tears at the 87th edition of the Oscars which took place at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles on Sunday, February 22, 2015.
