There is no style of music that is not profitable, but everybody believes that ‘Pangolo‘ music is the main thing .
If as an artist you are not singing the so-called ‘Pangolo’ club banger brand of music, you are not going to be successful… That’s a lie from the pit of hell.
Once again, there is no style of music that is not profitable, the problem is not your style of music!
The problem is:
- Your expectations:
Every artist wants to be as big as Wizkid and Davido. No, you can be as big as God wants you to be in your own world. ASA is an alternative artist, in her world she also charges six million per show, infact you have to fly her in to perform. You might not know this maybe because she doesn’t post pictures of her new car or brand new house on Instagram. Not every artist is that open. Some just love their privacy, it doesn’t mean nothing great is happening to them. Waje, Omawumi, Timi Dakolo, Ranti, all these artist are successful, living their dreams. Success is a function of perspective, so stay on your lane.
2. You have the wrong team:
If you have team who doesn’t understand how to market you right, things will not go right. Not every manager understands the alternative genre or how to properly position such artist. You need to work with a team who understands your kind of music And how to help you reach your audience.
3. Money is your focus:
Please don’t do music if your focus is money, money, money. Do music for the love of music, be sure you have the passion. Yes, music pays, but your focus should not be money.
4.You don’t believe in your self:
I know some alternative guys who will never bow to the pressure to do ‘Pangolo’ music. You know why? These guys believe the world will hear them. They are unrepentant, and sure if you stay at it enough, it will happen.
