One month after announcing he’s resting his very popular ‘Nite of a Thousand Laughs’ concerts, after a 17 year run, Opa Williams is back at it again. And this time there’s an interesting twist.
The respected entertainment businessman says he’s starting out a new project tagged Nite of A Thousand Laughs Xtra which will debut in Kenya and Uganda.
Williams hasn’t revealed much about the new show but he tells us, it will showcase four best comedians from four countries in Africa at any edition; Two from Nigeria (including the compere) and three in-form comedians from other African countries.
Fans should also expect to see their favourite celebrities in a comedy drama skit in every edition of the show. ‘Well, the best way to find out that we have broken from the norm is to attend just one edition of the new show’, Williams says.
And why he brought back the show (or at least something close to it), Williams says, ‘I had to put on my thinking cap so as not to be called a villain and kill joy’.
The show’s first edition will go down on Saturday, February 18, 2012.
