Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Omoni Oboli, has joined the list of Nigerian celebrities who have publicly thrown their weight behind the re-election of Nigeria’s president, Goodluck Jonathan.
The actress posted the picture above on social media recently where she is seen having a one-on-one with the president at a private meeting held with entertainers last Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Lagos.
Apart from declaring her support for the president and urging people to vote for progress, transformation, continuity and others, she also used the opportunity to lend her voice to the movement for peaceful and non-violent elections. Among other things, the actress and producer said: ‘Let’s not reduce ourselves to name calling and insults! We are better than this! #votenotfight #weareone.’
The support of Omoni for Jonathan would not come as really surprising to close observers of Nollywood as the actress became the first Nollywood figure to screen her movie, Being Mrs Elliot at the Presidential Villa at Aso Rock, Abuja last year and was widely supported by the Federal Government according to reports.
