It was February 26, 2017. She will never celebrate another birthday.
‘God I thank you,’ Oladipupo Solape, known in closed circles as ‘Shomzy Shomzy’, wrote alongside five photos of herself.
In one of the images, she looked into the sky, her right palm ‘kissing’ the other in the ‘prayer position’.
‘I have nothing to give you than to say thank you Jesus,’ Solape wrote. ‘I wish myself a long life and prosperity. HIP!!!HURRAY.
‘A big thanks to my mum, dad, buddy, course mates, and my Facebook friends.
‘Thanks all for the upload, likes and comments. I pray that God will not forget anyone of you. Who gonna take me out?’

The person in the best position to take Solape out that day would be Kalu B. A. – one of her course mates at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base in Makurdi, Benue State; the one she called ‘buddy’.
… the one with whom she was in love; the one who reportedly, with a loaded pistol, took her out 13 days later.
Airman Kalu B. A. and Solape had been dating for a while. The couple called their love ‘military crush’. They were fond of ‘loving up’ on social media.
But on Saturday, March 11, everything changed for evil after Kalu apparently found Solape in his Makurdi NAF base quarters, in bed with another man.

Early the next day, Kalu allegedly got hold of a pistol and fired three rounds at Solape who later died in hospital. The airman then tried to kill himself but only succeeded in inflicting a gunshot wound…allegedly.
Before harming himself, Kalu apparently penned a suicide note in which he called Solape a ‘witch’ who deserved what she got.
‘It’s a love story of a guy falling in love with a wrong witch who pretended to be good in my eyes and in the eyes of my loving mother,’ he reportedly wrote.

‘I’m a guy who pull two rounds in a witch and one round to my fucking body. For it is said he who kill by the sword shall die by it.
‘Most idiot would insult me, yes! If I were to be in there shoes I would do the same likewise if they were to be in my shoe, they would even pull more than three rounds on the witch.
‘Call me crazy lover who died for heartbreak,’ the said suicide note reads.
Kalu was arrested.
Many have gone online to condemn the alleged murder. Meanwhile, Solape will never mark another birthday.
