A few weeks ago, Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) reported that OK! Magazine, the British weekly celebrity magazine might be making its way to the country to launch its best selling magazine in Lagos and Abuja.
Well, we can now authoritatively tell you that the celebrity lifestyle magazine with more than 50 million readers worldwide, will be published in Nigeria and printed in the United Kingdom and then distributed on newsstands in Nigeria. Readers outside the country will also be able to subscribe to the magazine.
As disclosed earlier, UK-based entrepreneur Alexander Amosu, will manage the franchise through his Kamson Luxury Group and will be supervised by Northern & Shell Worldwide Plc, owners of OK! Magazine.
In what will be a monthly publication, every issue will contain a somewhat balanced content – 60% will focus on Nigerian celebrities while 40% will focus on African American celebs plus side attractions on the regular stars like Paris Hilton and David Beckham.
‘Nigeria is probably one of the most vibrant, affluent countries in Africa, a nation with this juxtaposition of poverty and immense wealth; a style leader for Africa that continues to shine despite hardships and negativity that try to mar its progress. I am honoured to bring OK! Magazine to Nigeria and I am convinced that the publication will enjoy great success‘, Amosu delightfully expresses.
According to the website www.oknigeria.com, the magazine is set for a July 2011 launch.
‘We are glad to launch for the first time on the African continent. It is extremely exciting to partner with a global luxury brand such as Kamson Luxury Group, led by the highly talented Alexander Amosu. Like he does, we also believe that the audience here is ready for a celebrity magazine that includes local content as well as global feature‘, says Richard Desmond, Chairman, Northern & Shell Plc.
Nigeria will now join the list of 22 countries like US, UK, Dubai, Australia and China already publishing OK! Worldwide.
