World’s number one male Tennis star, Novak Djokovic, has claimed his fifth Australian Open title.
The Serbian defeated the World’s number six, Andy Murray 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-0 to claim the title today, February 1, 2015 in Melbourne, Australia with the new title taking his Grand Slam title count to eight. With the latest victory, Djokovic has now defeated the British player three times – in 2011, 2013 and 2015.
Novak Djokovic won his first Australian Open tournament in 2008 but went without the title for two years before bouncing back to win the title in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
Speaking after his latest triumph, Djokovic said: ‘I’m honoured to be standing here as a champion for a fifth time.’
