Veteran Nollywood actor, Anayo Modestus Onyekwere popularly known as Kanayo O. Kanayo is a year older today, March 1, 2015.
Born March 1, 1962 in Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria, Kanayo shot to prominence as an actor when he made his movie debut in the film Living in Bondage in 1992.
Kanayo has gone on to star in over 100 Nollywood films, and in 2006, he won the African Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’.
He is currently a UN ambassador and bears the title of MFR. Kanayo along with Kenneth Nnebue (producer of Living in Bondage), Olu Jacobs, Enoch Adeboye, Queen Elizabeth of England, and Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti were among Nigerians honored by the government in 2014 during the centenary celebrations.
