Not many might have known Patience Dame Jonathan, wife to the President of The Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan and First Lady herself. The mother of two who is a graduate of Biology and Psychology from the University of Port Harcourt might not be as charming as Mariam Babaginda (who is by far the most elegant First lady this country has had) but she does have her own ways of driving attention.
The first lady had managed to stay silent and out of the loop of affairs when it comes to her husband’s governance, until the election period came close…Well, Dame went to almost every nook and cranny imploring all to vote for her hubby, sweet and nice wouldn’t you think? The only problem is that ‘Oga Madam’ did it in the oddest of manners. With misappropriate use of grammatical terms (she once reportedly referred to a church widow’s association as ‘My fellow widows‘) and the mind blowing, very popular ‘Don’t press ya hand in any other place, but umblerra‘, she became an overnight celebrity on Social networks, blogs and any social gathering.
Well, The Style section of ThisDay Newspaper featured the First lady and the first family in their Inauguration edition and after looking at the pictures, I have one word for Dame’s new look…Wow! This banishes any thought of grammatical mishaps the very ‘fine’ lady must have uttered. Are you telling me those words came from the woman I’m staring at in these pictures? Of course not!
