The pair got involved in the ugly scene after they clashed on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 during the premiership game between their teams.
According to reports, Cisse, who recently returned from a 3-match ban for elbowing Everton’s Seamus Coleman, has been banned for seven games and will also suffer a club fine of a week’s wage of around £40,000.
Despite an ongoing investigation, Jonny Evans has denied spitting on Cisse first by releasing a statement to that effect.
‘Having woken up this morning, I am shocked to have seen the media coverage from last night’s match. I would like to make it clear that I did not spit at Papiss Cisse.
‘I was totally unaware of any spitting incident and had assumed that the issue at the time was with the challenge and his attempted retaliation to the tackle from the floor.
Papiss Cisse who has already issued out a public apology for his act, will miss matches against Everton – March 15, Arsenal – March 21, Sunderland – April 5, Liverpool – April 13, Tottenham – April 19, Swansea – April 25 and Leicester – May 2.
