This week’s New Music Friday brings heat from Afrobeats stars.
Rema returns with “Kelebu”, a vibrant Afro-fusion banger fueling a $10K dance challenge that’s gone viral. Meanwhile, Dammy Krane drops his track titled “Kelebu”, sparking buzz over its striking similarity to Rema’s, intentional or not, it’s got people talking.
Fido teams up with Kizz Daniel for a powerful “Joy Is Coming” remix and Tiwa Savage links with Skepta for “On A Low”, a sultry blend of R&B and Afrobeats from her upcoming album This One Is Personal.
“Kelebu” – Rema
Rema is back with Kelebu, a hypnotic, rhythm-intensive track that blends his signature melodies with a bouncy, street-savvy beat. It’s the kind of song that gets stuck in your head. This is a jam perfect for blasting with the windows down or owning the dance floor. This is Rema’s third single of the year, following “Baby (Is It a Crime)” and “Bout U.”
In Kelebu, the Grammy-nominated Nigerian megastar fuses his Afrobeat roots with a confident Pan-African flair, blending Coupé Décalé, Bongo Flava, and soukous influences. Rema delivers verses like: “People dey kelebu from Nigeria to Mozambi’ (From Naija to Mozambi’)
No time to waste buga, just shake your bakasi (Just shake your bakasi)
Ovbialeke, no carry dey loose guard, dey ligali (Dey liga’, ligali)
No Rema, no party, una no sabi, na so e dey be
How e be, be, be, be, be? Ha”
Kelebu is Rema’s way of reliving those universal party moments and reclaiming that energy through music.
He’s even announced a $10,000 prize for fans who can invent and share a simple dance routine for Kelebu. This challenge has sparked a viral sensation online, with people sharing countless dance moves, some funny and cultural, others so innovative they might end up in the official music video. Rema even posted on TikTok, joking about how seriously people are taking the challenge!
“Kelebu” – Dammy Krane

Not to be outdone, Dammy Krane drops his own Kelebu just as Rema did, sharing the same infectious title but with street appeal and raw energy. It’s a different flavor but just as catchy.
Dammy Krane has been making headlines recently, both for his provocative moves and consistent music output. His April 2025 EP 5ive dropped the same day as Davido’s album of the same name, a controversial publicity play. This is his third copycat move: releasing 5ive alongside Davido and also dropping No Sign of Weakness simultaneously with Burna Boy’s album. Dammy Krane is deep in his copycat bag right now.
“Joy Is Coming (Remix)” – Fido ft. Kizz Daniel

Rising artist Fido raises the stakes on his viral hit Joy Is Coming by teaming up with the ever-reliable Kizz Daniel. The remix adds new energy, smoother vocals, and an extra layer of feel-good motivation.
After months of anticipation, the official remix delivers fresh vocals and a dynamic collaborative spin on a song already beloved across the continent. Kizz Daniel didn’t disappoint, bringing his signature flair with lines like:
“Ko ko ko, Good morning, Joy comes in the morning, buh werey lo po l’eko, so joy comes in a hoodie, towo bade ko ya settle won, to ba ti yo, ko ya be’kun wan.”
The collab was first hinted at by Kizz Daniel on Instagram in mid-January 2025. Some fans thought the remix unnecessary, while others loved the chemistry between the two, but in truth, the remix bangs as Kizz Daniel polished it with his verse.
Fido recently dropped his debut EP Olayemi, packed with eight genre-bending songs, which Joy is coming is the lead single from. Before today’s release, singles like Joy Is Coming and Money Moves already generated massive buzz on the music front. Other new tracks by Fido include I Miss You Die, Boko, Lungu, and Omo Ologo.
“On A Low” – Tiwa Savage x Skepta

Afrobeat meets grime as Tiwa Savage and Skepta join forces on On A Low, a dark, late-night banger dripping with smooth swagger and cross-continental chemistry.
Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage and UK rap icon Skepta deliver an irresistible blend of Afrobeats rhythm and UK R&B vibes on this sultry single. Released July 29, 2025, On the Low will feature on Tiwa’s upcoming album This One Is Personal, dropping August 29, 2025.
In On The Low, Tiwa takes her craft to new heights with a heart-stopping performance that connects deeply with listeners. Skepta’s vocal style meshes perfectly with Tiwa’s, and their contrasting interplay fuels the song’s energy.
Known for creating unforgettable hooks and melodies, Tiwa shines again here. The opening verse goes:“I am off tour
We should celebrate
Spend some time on yourself
Baby, it’s a date
I cannot be late, have to regulate
Cause I hate dirty looks on your pretty face.”
Set over a lush, percussion-led R&B beat, Tiwa glides effortlessly while Skepta offers emotional restraint with sharp lyrics. The song explores the challenges of keeping a relationship secret.
If you love storytelling over mellow grooves, don’t miss this one. With Tiwa’s upcoming album set to drop later this month, ‘This One Is Personal‘ would mark Tiwa’s first album in nearly five years after her last album ‘Celia’ in 2020, though last year, she also dropped a soundtrack album for her film Water & Garri.
“BTS” – Skales

B.T.S (Burst Their Speakers) is the latest single from Skales. The Track showcases Skales’ talent for sing-along hooks and infectious melodies.
Skales’ 2025 single B.T.S (Burst Their Speakers) is a strong addition to his impressive discography. Afrobeat and Afropop are among the many styles blended seamlessly to create a sound that feels fresh yet familiar.
Packed with energy and an infectious beat, the track is perfect for dancing and singing along. Following the success of D.L.L.Y (Dance Like Lamine Yamal), this new release reaffirms why Skales remains one of the most consistent hitmakers, constantly dropping fresh music to keep the vibe alive and stay jiggy in the game.
B.T.S. is a masterful mix of catchy rhythm, sharp lyrics, and vibrant production. Skales gained major spotlight back in the music scene this year when Lamine Yamal danced to his 2014 hit Shake Body, leading to a remix collaboration with Spanish acts including Oscar el Ruso, Samuel G, and Came Beats.
“Tobari” – D’Banj x DJ Maphorisa x DJ Obi

D’banj, DJ Maphorisa, and DJ Obi team up for a bouncy track titled ‘Tobari’. With DJ Maphorisa on production and DJ Obi adding Lagos flair, this collaboration fuses South African amapiano vibes with Nigerian Afrobeats swagger.
A smooth hybrid of warm percussion, rolling basslines, and fluid melodic layers, a perfect collaboration by two master DJs who clearly understood the mission with Dbanj delivering his own polling unit.
