Soulful, colourful and inspiring….words that best describe Soul-jazz singer Ibiyemi. We’re not kidding when we say she possesses one of the most powerful voices in the country – deep, resounding and of course melodic.
Finding your feet however in an era where pop sounds are the order of the day might be tough for singers like Ibiyemi, Bez, CON.Tra.diction and the likes but like the saying goes, good music always prevails.
‘Play‘ has that retro and upbeat feel that takes you back to the ’80s (think disco balls and bell bottom pants). Trust Ibiyemi to easily blend in with the right mood and swing.
‘True colour‘, a duet with the ever-concious singer Sound Sultan is however more insightful with the lyrics that revolve around the questions that provoke our minds.
Ibiyemi, who is presently under the management of Aboriginal Music proved her worth with her debut album ‘Love Always Wins‘ back in 2010.
