Yemi Alade has emerged NET Honours Class of 2022 Most Searched Female Musician after beating off stiff competition from Timi, Tiwa Savage, Tems and Ayra Starr.
NET Honours is an annual people’s choice award that recognises top performers and events in the entertainment industry and public sector that have shaped the year through a thorough analysis of audience search results, consumer interest, social media interactions and trends.
The singer recorded 25,331 searches in the period under review defeating Simi who came second with 22,875 searches. Tiwa Savage, Tems and Ayra Starr had 15,270, 8,737 and 5,203 searches respectively.
It has been an eventful year under review for the singer. She released an EP, Queendoncom, which contained seven tracks in August 2021 to rave reviews. In October 2021, she performed at the Earthshot Prize ceremony which took place at the Alexandra Palace, London at the invitation of the Royal family.
At the 2022 Grammys award, Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo who won a Grammy award for her album, Mother Nature, in the Best Global Music Album category thanked Yemi Alade for the collaboration.
