Nigerian fast-rising fashion designer Tolu Bally has emerged winner of the Net Honours 2022 ‘Most Popular Designer’ beating other talented creative designers, Veekee James, Xtrabride Lagos, and Tubobereni who were nominated in the same category, to hold the prestigious award.
Based on verified data, NET Honours is a special recognition award presented to deserving individuals in the Nigerian entertainment industry. For the Awards Class of 2022, NET Honours introduced 15 new voting categories including ‘Most Popular Designer’ .
Michael Orodare, the Editorial Lead at ID Africa, says, “Building on the success of NET Honours in the last six years, we believe it is also important to recognise the great works of other creatives who mostly work behind the scenes and rarely get the commendation they deserve. This is why we are introducing 15 new categories, and we are excited that this year, fans now have even more power to also choose their favourites in these new categories.”
An indigene of Kwara state, TBally is the founder of the fashion powerhouse 2207byTbally and Tbally Couture. The 2207byTbally brand was inspired by her desire to create a woman’s wear brand with all materials sourced and made in Nigeria.
Creating gorgeous outfits with a fusion of African and contemporary styles, TBally has styled many Nigerian celebrities including, Toke Makinwa, Kim Oprah, Linda Osifo, Nancy Isime, Beverly Naya, and Idia Aisien. From a glance, her styled outfit usually has a goddess effect featuring exquisite designs.
In the vote for the NET Honours Class of 2022 ‘Most Popular Designer’ category featuring 7,400 respondents, Tolu Bally polled 34.3% of fans’ votes. She was closely followed by Xtra bride Lagos who received 30.8% votes.
