Israel Adesanya, Tacha Akide, Bose Ogulu, Temi Otedola, Rinu Oduala and Feyikemi Abudu have been nominated in the category of Most Searched Person at the NET Honours People’s Choice Awards, one of the world’s biggest audience data-based awards.
NET Honours recognises achievers through a thorough analysis of audience search results, consumer interest, social media interactions and trends. In the Most Searched Person category, NET Honours rewards those personalities whose names were frequently typed into search engines by subscribers and visitors of Netng, Neusroom, 234Star, Orin and related platforms within the period from June 2020 to May 2021.
Israel Adesanya was born in Lagos but moved to New Zealand when he was 10 years old. He was bullied during his secondary school days. Still, he rose above that, and he is currently the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Champion and a proud representative of the country in the diaspora.
Tacha Akide was a controversial figure in Big Brother Naija: Pepper Dem, but she somehow endeared herself to many fans. She was disqualified nine days to the end of the show but has since become one of Nigeria’s most prominent influencers. Her visible involvement in the End SARS protests of October 2020 endeared her to many who didn’t follow the show. Last year, she emerged as the Most Popular BBNaija Star in the NET Honours Class of 2020.
Bose Ogulu manages the music careers of her son, the Grammy award-winning Burna Boy, and her daughter, Nissi. Fondly referred to as “Mama Burna”, she is the founder and CEO of Spaceship Collective, the holding company for the record label known as Spaceship Records.
Temi Otedola is an actor, fashion designer, and fashion influencer. She generated a lot of buzz in November 2020 when she made her acting debut as the lead actor in the critically acclaimed Citation, a Nollywood film directed by Kunle Afolayan. The film topped the Netflix Nigeria chart for weeks after its debut.
Rinu Oduala, known on Twitter as @savvyrinu, gained prominence as a social media influencer when she placed herself at the forefront of the #EndSARS protests in October 2020. She has since earned the reputation of a human rights activist.
Feyikemi Abudu worked closely with the Feminist Coalition (FemCO) to distribute food and logistics during the #EndSARS protests of October 2020. She also worked hard to secure the release of protesters unlawfully arrested, and Netng profiled her as one of the women leading the #EndSARS revolution.
Data for NET Honours is sourced from a vast database of over eight million users who engaged with Netng, Neusroom, Orin and 234Star platforms via the websites, social media accounts, and related platforms within a 12-month calendar period.
