In a statement released by a government spokesman on Saturday, February 28, 2015, it was confirmed that the vice president has decided to stay out of his office for the next 21 days as he is put under Ebola quarantine.
‘Sumana has decided to place himself in precautionary quarantine awaiting the results of tests by the health authorities.’
Reports also state that the government has reintroduced new travel restrictions that, meaning no boat can enter the country alongside commercial vehicles, taxis, lorries and other vehicles with new reported cases in other to avoid the spread of the disease.
The 2014 Ebola epidemic is the largest in history with a death toll of 9,729, after affecting Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia among others in West Africa, with a small number of cases reported in Nigeria and a single case reported in Senegal.
