
Gay rights groups in Kenya are angry with the cops for not actually doing more about people who attack gays and lesbians in Kenya.
Violence against gay people has been said to be very common in the east African nations, but victims fear reporting such crime to the police who often refuse to pursue their cases.
According to reports, the police rescue gay people in most incidents but they have not arrested anyone for the attacks.

It is also documented that on several cases, the police humiliate, dismiss or refuse to take statements from gay and lesbian people who try to report crimes, such as gang rape.
‘Police are meant to protect everybody, and that is what we do,’ Francis Wanjohi, a coast regional police commander, said.
‘When we receive any report, we must investigate. That is our job… But again, you do not expect to be protected when you engage in criminal and unacceptable behavior.’

Two gay men were attacked by mobs. One was admitted to hospital after his chest was slashed by a broken bottle.
Days later, he was arrested by the police, along with another man. Both were charged with ‘unnatural offences’.
Doctors conducted forced anal examinations on them to check for evidence of homosexual conduct, the report says.
A lot a of gay men are now fleeing the eastern region as the heat has been on them of late.
