A senior Magistrate Court 6 in Katsina, recently remanded 2 grandparents in prison custody for allegedly defiling an 11-year old girl.
The two suspects, 65-year old Haladu Abdu and 64-year old Ashiru Musa, both of Sabuwar Unguwa, Katsina, allegedly had carnal knowledge of 11- year-old Yusra Shuaibu.
According to reports, the prosecuting police officer, Hashimu Musa, told the court that the father of the victim reported the case at Sabon Gari Police Station. Musa informed the court that the two old men criminally conspired and lured little Yusra Shu’aibu to a shop situated at Sabuwar Unguwa area, where they forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.
The Inspector revealed that as a result of the forceful act, the young girl sustained various degrees of injury in her private parts. He further said that the accused are being charged under section 97 and 283 of the Penal Code Law of Nigeria.
No plea was taken due to lack of jurisdiction by the court but the presiding magistrate, Nafisat L Bagiwa ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till later this month.
