Davido graduated from the department of Music at Babcock University on Sunday June 7, 2015. NET exclusively reported that he was the only graduating student from the department and further investigations have revealed that the music department was actually set up for the ‘Skelewu’ singer by his billionaire dad, Adedeji Adeleke a little over 3 years ago.
Speaking exclusively to NET, Davido’s H.O.D (Head of department), Olusegun Ojuola said: ‘Well, it’s really a long journey, because it’s through the help of Dr Deji Adeleke that the department was developed over three and half years ago. But we actually started admitting (students) in 2012.’
Ojuola added that the department currently has a total of 27 students and he didn’t fail to note that he foresees a boom in the number of students in the next session set to begin in September.
‘The department is growing, right now, the population is 27, and I’m expecting a kind of population explosion this next admission year because the number of students within the university that have shown interest to transfer from their departments to Music is overwhelming. We also have students transferring from other university like Bells, Bowen, OAU and others.’
He went on to boast about the facilities at the department, saying: ‘I’m not boasting but with the facilities we have, you can’t find its match at another university running a degree programme in Music. NUC also testifies to it, our studio is hi-tech.’
